World wide, the undergraduate education in professional programs is the focus of increased attention. In order to promote a higher order of learning environment, several universities offering undergraduate engineering education like Stanford University, Georgia Tech University, Utah State University and University of Delaware have established training centers for more effective class room learning.

Jaypee Business School recognizes this as an important challenge and has responded by organizing several annual and occasional short duration faculty development programs. For instance, the annual Faculty Development Program in 2005 involved all 150 faculty members of JIIT, JUIT and JIET who learnt the concepts of CARE Learning (Customized, Active, Research centric and Experimental learning). Similarly, the annual Faculty Development Program in 2006 discussed the profiles and activities of ACE Learning facilitators (Active, Committed and Excellent Teachers).

The Jaypee Center for Learning Excellence now seeks to build upon its experience further and offer its expertise to fellow institutions that are offering undergrad teaching. The Center promotes cutting edge undergraduate teaching in professional courses in India . Towards this, the Center is poised to hold an international faculty development workshop in 2007. The theme is ‘Transforming Undergraduate Technical Education through the Pedagogies of Engagement’.

The Workshop is being supported by the Centers of Teaching & Learning in US Universities and by the eminent faculty of the Stanford University , University of Delaware , University of Florida , California State University, University of Manitoba and IITs in India .

Another plan is to organize a training workshop for Young management faculty and Adjunct faculty for ‘Best Practices in Class Room Teaching’ in collaboration with the Association of Indian Management Schools (AIMS)- the 400 members strong body of Indian business school including all top ten management schools.
